Female graduates expect to make less than men. For all the hype about ``girl power'' and reports of girls outstripping boys in school exams, a survey shows that female graduates go out into the job market convinced they will be paid lower salaries than men.
Does this indicate a lack of confidence, or are young women simply aware that the glass ceiling is still intact? The survey makes depressing reading, at the beginning of the 21st century as it suggests an built-in defeatism before women even enter the workplace.
