City Limits, New Yorks urban affairs news magazine, is seeking a MANAGING EDITOR. This is a new position, working as part of a five-person editorial team. The managing editor will supervise the planning and production of the magazine, published 10 times a year, scheduling the flow of copy and art, copy-editing stories, coordinating layout with designer, and working with printer. Other responsibilities include assigning and editing art for publication and overseeing final phase of relaunch of City Limits web site this winter. Must be extremely well organized, work well under pressure, and have strong people skills and editorial instincts. Experience in QuarkXPress essential; interest and experience in news and/or advocacy journalism highly desirable.
A 24-year-old, award-winning magazine with a strong commitment to investigative reporting and provocative progressive analysis, City Limits covers the politics, policies, players and issues that affect New York Citys low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, probing government agencies, politicians, nonprofit organizations and other forces that affect community life.
