MIGDEN'S GAY-BAITING
Editor -- Assemblywoman Carole Migden should be ashamed of herself for trying to gay-bait Ralph Nader (Matier & Ross, August 16). Decades ago, when Nader first started exposing the danger in poorly-built American cars, the auto industry hired detectives to investigate his private life. They didn't come up with anything then, either. We can expect this type of behavior from corporate lunkheads. What's Migden's excuse?
ARTHUR EVANS (Note by me, Evans was a founder of the Gay Liberation Front in NYC in the early 70's. Wrote a book on Gays and Witchcraft. Nowhere near as conservative now, as a freak named Thomas Edwards who is another regular letter writer to the Chronicle. Edwards shtick is to say, "As a gay man who came out in the 50's, I rise up to defend the honor of Richard Nixon...or Bush, or whoever." Even the local Log Cabin club thinks he's a crank.)

Really, Carole. Act like an ethical elected state official, and not some hired corporate character assassin. Get a grip on those lips, sister."

Back to Migden... (in a previous lifetime, back in '84 she was a paper member of DSA, along with her political consultant hack, Robert Barnes. Once at a fundraiser, after she did not recognize the nametag she said to the poor fool, "You're nobody!, " and moved on...), that insinuated w/o proof that Ralph is gay! He denied it. If I was a member of any of the gay Democratic clubs here in town like the Milk or Toklas club, I'd imagine some hardball coming up. Maybe I'll join the Harvey Milk club- membership always spikes up before endorsement meetings...
