The NY Times' shift from the pursed-lipped pompousness of many decades' standing to a weirdly *prurient* pretentiousness now continues apace.

The lead story in today's NYT "Week in Review" section focuses on the NYT's Pulitzer-Prize-caliber discovery that American teenagers have significant impact on the nation's culture as a whole. The story is highlighted by a huge photo of a bikini-attired teenager – technically qualifying as "bodacious babe" – and a couple of male admirers in a convertible, accompanied by the prominent text: "'Who's kidding who?' said one producer.

'The reality of teen life is R-rated.'"

Directly below this urgent report is a headline for what was apparently the world's second most significant news story of the past week: "A Boom in Busts: Why Bigger Bras Keeping Selling Better." In the interest of a well informed public, this article is accompanied by a huge photo of an x-rayed breast with an implant.
