Not sure what exactly the above entails for Michigan, but Jesse Ventura has proposed increasing the State of Minnesota's share of public school funding to 100 percent, up from 70 percent, and made it "a priority" on his legislative agenda. This would result in a very large property tax cut . . .

Depending on how the money is channeled back into local school districts, this can be a very good reform. Patterns of residential segregation, both racial and economic, make the local prop tax a regressive device in school finance.
