Not sure what exactly the above entails for Michigan, but Jesse Ventura has proposed increasing the State of Minnesota's share of public school funding to 100 percent, up from 70 percent, and made it "a priority" on his legislative agenda. This would result in a very large property tax cut for Minnesotans, approx. one-third to one-half, but he proposes making up the difference with an increase in sales tax, various business assessments, district consolidations, etc. The article referenced below mentions that this would make Minnesota the only state in the US paying the whole tab for public K-12 schooling, with local districts still able to raise additional funds on their own for special projects.
