Zionism is far more popular now than in 1945. It seems to me that the more the Jews have gotten assimilated in the USA, the more Zionism has become obligatory in the maintenance of the Jewish identity here, so much so that the most fanatically right-wing elements in Israel are often US exports. Dialectical.
