I don't understand what you're getting at. You're not saying in

Israel is just an extension of the US empire, so an attack on
Israel
is an attack on the US, right?

I think Hitchens is just making an obvious point. Hamas and
Hezbollah
have not attacked the US repeatedly as Al Queda has, so the US
and
UK are not going to send in troops to "smoke them out of their
caves."
Bush has apparently put a crimp in Hamas's fundraising, however.
