True enough. But couldn't one motive for such a move be to take the heat off themselves?
The CIA is up to similar tricks these days, touting their boy who died in the prison uprising as a hero. Up until now, they never ever acknowledged that guys that like *were* their boys. He certainly has to be the first hero-interrogator.
