G'day Jo,

Aye, and running colder. 'Civilised' Australia has concentration camps now, maybe not in the frozen hinterlands of Poland, but in the searing desert of Woomera. Barbed wire, military guards - the lot. All because people run away from the likes of ol' Saddam - a man so evil it remains necessary to bomb and starve his people for a decade, but not evil enough to warrant taking in those who flee his regime. We are in danger of losing our civilisation precisely because we've decided we now have enough cultures living beside each other. And you should listen to the poison Packer's network has been spouting on the matter! Methinks we're revealing ourselves, too.

And I see Hanson's 'One Australia' mob are back (remember her erstwhile offsider - now a NSW politician - describing himself as 'a national socialist'? - they're predicting nearly 20% of the vote in rural Queensland - which sounds like a balance of power quota to me. Why oh why can't the left get its shit together and give those people somewhere civilised to go?!

And sorry, Peter - I like the sound of autonomist Marxism - but it's pretty difficult not to feel just a tad despondent right now ...

Er, cheers, Rob.
