Faith Based

Apropos of our discussion of whether Office of Faith Based Programs would 
fund the Wiccans, there is an article in the NTY today about how 
nontraditional fauiths are, er cashing in: the Moonies, the Hare Krishnas, 
Scientology. The Nation of Islam is OUT: the govt won't fund groups based on 
"hate," which is why, I guess, the Catholics and Southern Baptists are OK, 
with their attitude towards gays and lesbians. Or, for that matter, the 
Moonies. The NOI was apparently bounced because of pressure from the ADL. 
It's not clear from the article whether the NOI applied to participate, or 
whether the ADL acted preemptively. This suggests that the Wiccans are 
likely to find some difficulties. I do hope they try.
