advances in capitalism

200 years of rich multicultural infusions - all kinds of ethnicities daily bent over all kinds of cookers - and American culinary debate has come to this? A poignant moment ...

I prefer my chips with a bit of spud in 'em, meself ...

And I reckon Gordon nails it all with "the creation of scarcity is an enormously important task in mature capitalism". Someone on Pen-L recently offered the quote from Thorstein Veblen that 'invention is the mother of necessity'. Nice. I still reckon the scarcification of information is the big cappo issue du jour. And I reckon that's might have a fair bit to do with the fluctuations in infotech and media firms' profit projections at the moment. How to make a quid outa info (in a world uncomfortably full of the stuff) in the long run, that's the question.

Cheers, Rob.
