persephone and demeter? fuckmedead, but read about how hades rapes persephone and how he feeds her his seed. HA! (hi m. mcintyre and dd, just for you!)

how's about \Dionysus? the cult of Isis and Osyris. (Egyptian) what about Gilgameth? Adonis? (adon means god in palestinian language. do you think of palestian culture of over 2000 yrs ago as christian?) what about Ishtar (Egyptian. is this christian and even considered "western") Mebbe try: Mithra and Mithraism in India? Attis and Cybele? (Asia?)

if you want to read some stuff that evokes sado masochism try the Mayan Popul Vuh in which the Sun --Hunhun-ahpu-- and Venus--Vukub-hunhun-ahpu -- are called by the Lord of Death (Vucub Caquix). the tortures and trials the sun and venus go thru...hmmmm...would make doug get a stiffy, i'm sure! :)

which of course, should remind everyone that a lot of other cultures engage in ritualistic sacrifices and i'd sure call that sado-masochistic.
