On stereotypes.

I made no assumptions about you. I corrected one you'd made about me: that training in sociology precluded my ability to be an activist. this was not a suggestion that you weren't in activist. in fact, i assumed that you were given your involvement in DAN evidenced by forwards to the list. since i don't think activism is bad thing, and haven't indicated that i do, then i didn't engage in any stereotyping of you. i did, however, find what you said unsupportable. that is, i took issue with your attack on max. you denounced what he said as "crap". that's a hostile characterization of someone else's post. i also took issue with what i thought were unfounded claims about the role of the state. these are debatable. suggesting that you are making claims that seem unrelated to reality is not an unusual thing to do in list exchanges.

if you are unwilling to back up claims with arguments and if you don't like what some folks post, it's a simple matter of creating filters for those individuals you don't care to read. this will save you lots of time wading through list posts.

hth and hand.
