Comrades,
I have just come back from the Munich protest demonstration aginst the Genoa
killing. Here is a short report:
This afternoon between 500 and 1000 persons hold a demonstration in Munich,
Germany against the killing of a demonstrator in Genoa last Friday. Main
demands were the release of all people still in jail, the ban of fire-arms
at demonstrations and an independent enquiry into the incident.
At speeches participants of the Genoa demonstrations reported about the
police violence there.
The participant of today's Munich demonstration hailed from different
section of the Munich left: Communists, Trotskyists, Linksruck (German IS
section), Anarchists, ATTAC, Euromarches and student unions. The Green and
Socialdemocratic spectrum was almost completely absent.
Slogans chanted at the police were Assasini - Killers, other slogans
demanded the release of all prisoners, international solidarity or of
anti-capitalist content.
Police presence was moderate for Munich standards. A few ordinary police
were walking at the side of the demonstration and a handfull riot cops (USK)
in full gear were at the other side of the street (I assume there were some
more in the side streets). As usual a several dozens of plain-cloth police
accompanied the demonstration.
