CORRECTION: The first article in Progressive News of Interest dated
July 28 (Beaten Down Today, Yet Rising Tomorrow) contained an error
in the last sentence of the fourth paragraph, which read: In addition,
Chinas annual population growth rate has been reduced to 12%, compared
to Indias 21%. World population is growing at an annual rate of 1.2%
(an additional 77 million people a year). China accounts for 12% and
India 21% of this yearly increase of 1.2%, not an increase of 12% and
21% of their own populations. In terms of annual population growth,
Chinas is 0.9%, and Indias is 1.7%. By comparison, annual growth in
the U.S. is 0.6%. Thanks to reader Paddy C. for bringing this editing
error to our attention.
