ORACLE CEO ELLISON WILL DECIDE WHICH SCHOOL GETS MILLIONS

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is considering either Harvard University or Stanford University as the home to a new center that will research the links between politics, technology, and the economy. The premise, Ellison said, is that technology shapes the economy, which in turn shapes the form of government. Ellison plans to donate $150 million to build the new program and is considering the relative merits of both universities. "It's one or the other," he explained. "There are very few schools that have good schools of engineering, good schools of economics, and good schools of political science." Ellison reportedly thinks that Stanford's political-science department is a liability, while Harvard may team with MIT in a strategic partnership to strengthen its engineering side.
