Maybe! Maybe not?! Steven Schwartz is a somewhat shady character...>Steve Schwartz, has a very mixed rep. He, yrs. ago was in the IWW, and a neo-Trot sect, the name of which eludes me at the moment. (Maybe it was, http://www.marxists.org/history/etol/group.htm#S one of these groups, since he wrote a book with Victor Alba on Spain)

But, if you call or e-mail, Mike or John at Bolerium Books in San Francisco, I'm sure they would have an instant answer as he is a regular customer. After he started turning neo-con (mostly over Nicaragua) he worked for a while for the Institute for Contemporary Studies, and in that time period, I remember one of the local T.V. channels on the nightly news (think the reporter was Sylvia Chase) had a story about Schwartz going through the garbage of CISPES. There was another story in the S.F. Bay Guardian, with the title, "Who Is Steve Schwartz?" He writes long letters to the Anderson Valley Advertiser, way up in Humboldt County, I think. My friend (red-diaper baby, Eric Kirk kirk at humboldt.net , he always takes me with his folks to Veterans of the A. Lincoln Brigade dinners, writes for them when he has time, and saves the issues. I'm sure he can send your copies of Schwartz appeatences there.)

His scholarship, in my skims of his remaindered book (really ought to read it all, well written), "From West to East, " Basic Books, looks good, though. (And even if it wasn't I'd still read it, fodder...! Good example of trashy hit job on a rad left personality is, "Kathy Boudin and the Dance of Death, " by Ellen Frankfort.) See 'ya later alligator! Michael P.S. Just remembered I saw at City Lights his new book on Kosovo. Preface by Christopher Hitchens.
