> (Apologies for cross postings)
>
> Dear all,
>
> Please get along to this protest and help keep up the heat on Philip
Ruddock and his government's brutal anti-refugee policies.
> [Note for those going to the student anti-capitalist conference, the
protest falls during the lunchbreak on the first day, and is located just a
few hundred metres from the confernece venue (UTS)]

> EMERGENCY PROTEST
> 12 NOON, THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 29
> Department of Immigration (DIMA) offices, 477 Pitt St, Sydney (near
Central station)
>
> The recent death of a Palestinian man, who died on the operating table,
having spent the past 8 months in detention at Port Hedland, continues the
exposure of the brutality of Australia's detention centres.
>
> The medical care in the centres is pathetic, with refugees commenting that
no matter what ailment they complain of - from broken limbs to influenza to
psychological trauma, they are given the same treatment - "take some asprin
and drink several glasses of water".
>
> Now one man is dead. Thousands more lie in these inhumane camps, their
only crime being to seek safety. One dead person is already too much - it's
time to close the camps, to free the refugees.
>
>
> Please come to the protest this Friday, and let your friends, family,
colleagues, etc know. Please forward this email as far as possible. For
