This is pretty typical for Wall Street Journal. First, completely obfuscate the concept of wealth by concentrating on status and toys and completely leaving out the parallel requirement/benefit of power. Next, convince people that the coming recession/depression will not make them poorer, it will just dampen their greed and that therefore, they deserve it.
