Well, the lack of public transport is a kind of savage tax on workers. Sure lots of low-wage workers have cars, but lots don't too. Who do you think takes the buses in places like LA and El Paso?

It's irritating to hear middle and upper income Americans whine about higher gas prices. Until the recent spike, gas prices lagged general inflation for 20 years. It's absurd that this toxic stuff in limited supply costs less than bottled water.
