That millions of Afghans were already on the verge of starvation and bombings and border closures would make mass deaths a certainty was said numerous times, even before the bombings began, but that in itself didn't faze too many Americans & probably won't in the near future either, just as Iraqi deaths by economic sanctions have yet to touch a sufficient number of Americans to change US policy. It will move the masses in the Arab and/or Muslim worlds, I believe, but probably not in the direction Doug may hope for (= "stop the Anglo-American bombings, let aid workers & UN peace-keepers go in"). -- Yoshie
