Adding more U.S. ground troops to the existing ones in Afghanistan is
simply an expansion of the first front. For the second front on the
USA to open a la WWII, there would have to be a civil war on the home
front, a ground war in the Western Hemisphere, or some large-scale
engagement elsewhere -- an unlikely prospect for the time being.
