I agree with Chip. One of my own particular reasons for resisting the widespread use of the label "fascism" is that such usage often reflects (and generates) a misunderstanding of the terrible repressive power -- past, present, and future -- of ordinary bourgeois democracy.

There is also the old problem of crying Wolf! of course.
