I agree completely, which is why I thought Marable's comparison was wrong-headed rhetoric. The move to cite something that's several orders of magnitude larger makes it look like that's the standard of what's wrong. Inflated rhetoric depresses the value of what's being said. A circumspect accounting of NY as-is is enough, imo.
