If one accepts the outlined scenario as the likeliest outcome, then the answer must be "yes" in some sense. I have absolutely no problem with accepting the fact that the US is responsible for acts that far surpass the horror of 9-11. I just doubt from what I've seen thus far that expunging the Taliban from Afghanistan will be among them.
