There is an entertaining anecdote concerning Chou en lai and Dulles at the Geneva talks in 1956. It seems one morning the two came into the meeting room before anyone else had arrived. Chou offered to shake hands. Dulles turned away huffily. Chou would tell the tale to visiters with great glee.
