'New Left' was a pretty diverse category, but it certainly included some amalgams of stalin & mao, especially the latter. whether horowitz fit the latter I couldn't say. I suspect he was closer to some mixture of mao and che guevara, much like the Panthers.

why people spend time sniping at him I can't fathom. he is about the lowest form of life imaginable. I'd rather play gin rummy with Osama Bin Ladin than him.

he's the most vigorous proponent I can see of using the present situation to fortify his business of demonizing the left. close enough to fascism for me.

So now to find a quote equating "new left" with stalinism/maoism. I really don't even know the difference, but its nice to know to peeve off people who, say, call the sandinista's maoists.
