New Taliban offer - Guardian

Tomorrow, Wednesday's Guardian has a front page reporting that the Taliban have repeated their offer to hand bin Laden over to a neutral country, but this time without insisting on special briefing on the evidence.

This offer is in the interests of the people of the world, and of the USA. The USA should accept, avoid a martyr, agree to a United Nations procedure for any trial and concentrate on defensive measures to restrict the danger of terrorism, and to solve regional and global problems on a just basis. Not least the USA should invest the money it has been planning to give to this war, in a development fund to promote economic activity in the poorest countries of the world. Hardly likely to be inflationary, unlike pouring more liquidity into the stagnant richest economies.

US hegemonism is dead as an international strategy. That will be a liberation for the people of the world as well as for the people of the USA.
