Women's social positions went down after periods of revolutionary
struggles (often in times of war) in the then socialist nations, in
part because they couldn't maintain women's committees that were not
controlled by the male party leadership. That's not the only reason,
to be sure, but I believe that, if any kind of revolution from the
Left (be it socialist or anarchist or whatever) comes about in the
future, women will do well to remember this lesson from history & do
it differently the next time.
