The US reinstatement of fascist officials and officers in "liberated" governments in Europe is well documented, as is the US subversion of communist longshore unions in Marseille in the late 1940's (with the help of local criminal syndicates and the AFL-CIO) and Italian elections in 47 or 48. I imagine a number of people on this list could point you in the direction of credible materials and info US covert operations in Europe after WW2.
