By the standards for "mega-attacks" set by the greatest terrorist of them all, the U.S., 9/11 was clearly not in the running for the label. Less than 100,000 deaths is rather puny. If Oxfam etc are correct on the food situation in Afghanistan, the U.S. itself will easily reach this figure by next spring.
The U.S. response to this attack is more disproportionate than was Lidice.
