The hype surrounding the launch of Microsoft's latest operating system had barely died down before crackers - computer hackers who specialise in unlocking software for pirating -yesterday claimed to have pirated it.
Just five days after the billion-dollar marketing campaign kicked off, carrying the hopes of a gloomy industry with it, crackers around the world were exchanging information over the internet about how Windows XP could be copied for nothing.
