Kevin Robert Dean>This reminds me, on NPR the other morning some security expert was claiming that Bin Laden has connections to the KLA. I always thought the KLA was supposedly "Marxist-Leninist"?????

After I get back from seeing Bill Ayers hawk his autobiography at Modern Times, I'll search the NPR website to see who that person was. Likely from CSIS or similiar outfit. I've seen mention of al Quaida training some Bosnians but not Kosovars yet.

The origins of the KLA were in the the Hoxhaite Albanian M-L study circles of the 70's. But, there was a purge of the marxist-leninist sectors of the KLA in the period before the NATO bombings. Ethno-nationalist chauvinists around Thaci gained hegemony. Good chapter on the KLA in Tim Judah book on the war from Yale Univ. Press. Also Chris Hedges of the NYT in Foreign Affairs in Jan. 2000, I think. Michael Pugliese
