The immediate agenda, in my view, should be to fight against ethnic & religious discrimination and scapegoating; to defend civil rights & liberties; and to oppose any military attack by the U.S. government on Afghanistan & possibly also on some other nations in the Middle East. While doing all we can to make the incipient anti-war movement grow in size & capacity, leftists should be organizationally prepared for various dangers and possibilities -- some clearly foreseeable, others much less so -- that the development of the impending war likely brings.
