I agree, I think that the common ruin of the contending classes is a lot more likely than the revolutioanry transfotrmation of society. I do not advocate a strictly parliamentary path to socialism. At the same time I think that armed insurrection is totally insane under modern conditions. I would despair if the fall of Communism hadn't indicated that really largescale transformation is possible outside "channels" and without significant violence. At the same time, looked at soberly, our chancesa re vanishingly small.
