Moore's representation of the working class

Michael Moore gave one or two thousand dollars, I forget which, to the pro-union employees of the Borders store in Philadelphia where he spoke and did some filming for his movie "The Big One". They used it to print and distribute a newsletter. As I recall, when he tours the country filming or promoting his books, he donates a good portion of his proceeds to local groups.

I'm not familiar with his TV programs, but I did see him speak at the Webzine 2001 event at CBGB's last summer. From that talk I'd say Kelley's on the right track, and Moore's "affectations" are probably a response to the "sneers" -- at one point in his very entertaining presentation, he said, referring to his corporate nemeses, "What else can they do to me?"

He was also totally surprised that the organizers of the event had (a little) money for him...
