Plane hits skyscraper in Milan

It now appears that there are at least three dead and 15 injured. Minister of the Interior, Scajola, is now calling it an accident. Though, according to the report below (from the turinese newspaper "La Stampa", George Bush was notified about the matter when it happened and the Italian stock market was closed for its evening session.

Un aereo da turismo, forse decollato da Locarno, si è

schiantato a Milano, poco prima delle 18, contro il

grattacielo Pirelli, sede anche della Regione Lombardia.

Almeno tre le vittime. Finora sono 15 i feriti fatti evacuare

dai vigili del fuoco, che escludono comunque il pericolo di

crollo del grattacielo. L'impatto sarebbe avvenuto fra il

ventesimo ed il venticinquesimo piano.

Il numero della Protezione civile della Lombardia è

800-061160. A questo numero possono chiamare i

parenti dei dipendenti della Regione Lombardia per

avere notizie.

Secondo il ministro dell'interno Scajola, si tratterebbe di un

incidente. L'aereo avrebbe lanciato l'«sos» ed era in fiamme,

secondo la ricostruzione di un testimone. E' stato attivato il

dispositivo di difesa aerea in attesa della conferma

dell'incidente. La Borsa ha sospeso la seduta serale a Piazza

Affari dopo lo schianto dell'aereo. Il presidente americano

George W. Bush è stato informato dell'esplosione. Lo ha
