On sait qu'à la suite de la lecture d'un texte de Jules Guesde le présentant comme le bon génie qui apportait la " conscience " à la classe ouvrière, Karl Marx eut ce mot : " Si c'est cela le marxisme, alors moi-même je ne suis pas marxiste...

I dont know if this was said in a letter or aloud...possibly he said it some other time also, but it makes sense that he might have said this in French in response to a book written by a francophone.
