This is not good folks. The parallels to Allende's overthrow are too close.

There is no way that Chavez could be president without sufficient backing from the military, just as Allende needed Gen Schneider(?). In Chile, Pinochet had Schneider assassinated to enable the coup.

In Venezuela Gen Rincon is supposed to be covering Chavez's back. Yet he joined in the aborted coup, then apparently returned to the fold when the coup failed.

How convenient indeed that the dead generals supported Chavez. How convenient that Rincon was on a different helicopter.

Is Rincon going to be Venezuela's Pinochet?

Definitely not good. Damn damn damn.
