i am familiar with the equity/equality dualism/conflict... i am using equality for two reasons
a) my thesis is a response to the prevailing orthodoxy (UNDP, World Bank etc) on inequality which according to the the UNDP is “measured by the difference between the world’s poorest and the world’s richest” (Kaul et al 1999: xix)
b) so as not confuse the term with equity as in shares and stocks etc
