Iranian parliament authorises embryo implantation Agence France-Presse Tehran, August 27

Iran's reform-dominated parliament adopted on Tuesday a law authorising in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) for couples who are unable to have children.

The bill, which still has to be approved by the Guardians Council, the parliament watchdog controlled by conservatives, authorises specialised medical centres to supervise such pregnancies.

The bill only applies to couples whose sterility has been confirmed.
