As a socialist who has been in Russia off and on for two years, I gotta say that I love Gorby. He was a bumbling idealist, but at least he had guts, and his heart is in the right place. I think things in the FSU would be much, much better if he hadn't lost power (tarrying with historical hypotheticals, am I). He was probably the first genuine Communist idealistic believer to lead the USSR since Lenin (and a lot nicer, of course).

BTW, although I mostly loathe the guy, I live GB the First kudos for actively opposing the dissolution of the USSR.
