Löwy is specifically talking about a Marxist theoretical criticism of imperialism. What were Indian Marxists and other left-wingers saying about imperialism in the days of Lenin and Luxemburg? It would be nice to have a short history of Marxist theory in India available in English.

Löwy is discussing theory, and you are demanding empirical studies. Obviously both are necessary. What is your theory of imperialism, btw?

That might be an interesting question if it were not a rhetorical one. There have been some works discussing how much Marx knew and didn't know about India, Ireland, indigenous peoples in North America, etc.; some might have already written about what written sources, Marxist and other left-wing scholars and activists, etc. Lenin consulted before writing about imperialism. -- Yoshie
