Luke Weiger <lweiger at umich.edu> wrote:>It is sort of like saying that. We draw different conclusions from the analogy, though. >I conclude that police investigation is in order to deal with crimes, but social upheaval >is necessary to deal with a psychotic superpower. What do you conclude, Luke? >Why do you think that the point is "weightless"? jks Because I think such comparisons lack meaning in a strict sense (really, what is it to say that a given superpower is more "murderous" than a terrorist collective?), and, on their own, prescribe nothing. More murderous = murders more people. Don't be obtuse. As you know, I think police investigation alone into the doings of Al Qaeda would've done next to nothing to diminish the threat they once posed. I didn't know, but I might have surmised. Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out. jks
