Communist Party leader Hu too hot for editor
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
BEIJING: A southern China newspaper editor has been sacked after printing an article lampooning the newly appointed Communist Party leader Hu Jintao as a "puppet" of his predecessor, President Jiang Zemin, Hong Kong media reported Monday.
Shenzhen Weekly editor Jin Minhua was fired after an investigation by government censors, the Mingpao daily said. The story was intended to be a light entertainment.
According to the Mingpao, the story concerned a recent mock press conference at a news seminar in Beijing where a hypothetical Hu was asked tough questions from Chinese journalists posing as foreign reporters.
During the mock press conference, the hypothetical Hu was asked how he felt about widespread stories in the Western press calling him a "puppet" to outgoing President Jiang.
