*ahem* as a trained statistician, I have to inform you that this is an example of "survivorship bias". The point being that membership of a left-wing sect is a fucking thankless experience with more or less nothing to recommend it to an individual except idealism, and we all know how long that lasts. The only thing which can possibly keep young chaps showing up to yet another god damned meeting (or even, ye Christ, selling party newspapers), is the presence of the heartbreakingly beautiful girls who inexplicably and occasionally frequent these meetings.
In other words, the ISO is the tail of the distribution; at some point, there were lots of other, equally ballsachingly awful organisations which didn't happen to have the beautiful women as members, but they all fell apart for lack of interest. This is how I deduced, sight unseen, that Yoshie must be an absolute babe; anyone as ideologically terrifying as that tends to be expelled from polite society pretty quickly unless they've got something quite extraordinary going for them.
The presence of the beautiful men can be explained more simply; wherever you find extremely beautiful women, you will also find legions of fucking pretty boys who they go home with in preference to you. It's just a law about the bloody universe.
