Take a close look at the exact sentence: "Just as Marx used to say, commenting on the French "Marxists" of the late [18]70s: "All I know is that I am not a Marxist."

The sentence is more or less meanignless except in the context of those French "Marxists" of the 1870s. What was their conception of marxism. That is the only marxism which Marx is dissociating himself from.
