On the flip side, the NYPD does not have the experience controlling a riot or an unruly demonstration numbering 50-100,000. I'm sure they can control demonstrations of 10,000 with 4,000 officers, but they are fooling themselves if they are prepared for a European or Asian style protest. That won't happen this weekend, but we can hope for a big showdown in the future.
