Democracy is not some lab experiment which you can re-run any number of times to get the correct result, and any attempt at confusing the natural sciences with what Marx satirized as the natural history of capital ends up in the bad affirmation of prehistory.
Adorno pointed out that theology at its most radical actually comes very close indeed to the dialectic: where it wishes for the resurrection of the flesh, i.e. for what people could be, instead of what the total system makes of them here and now.
